G10 2nd Semester Class #32

Today we will deploy the QR Codes and if you did not submit your Evaluate stage last class, you can do so today for 50% of the grade.

If anyone still needs to present, we can do so in small groups.

Simultaneously, we will start our Project 3 Lego Robotics!

We will start working with Investigation:

Let's develop our guiding questions looking into the big concept as well as into our classroom activity:
  • What are Robots?
  • What can we used them for?
  • Why?
  • When were they invented/did it all start?
  • Who?
  • How?
  • How do designs vary for different purposes?
  • add more questions....
Developing our guiding questions we can begin completing our Investigation stage, state the 'problem', develop the Design Brief, relate the importance of these devices in our lives, society and AOIs, etc.
  • Get in new groups with people who you have not worked with before
  • Get started focusing on the listed questions (in red) as an introduction to Project 3: Investigation stage
  • Install the Lego Mindstorms software in your laptops (if you are using your own device)
  • When starting your Investigation stage  document, please remember to:

Once you have developed your design brief, complete the design specifications and remember to keep record of your sources in the bibliography.

We will be using Lego Robotics NXT 2.0 kit. You can visit online tutorials @ NXT Tutorials. You can visit the Essentials page to get started as well as the Advanced section for the expert programmers.
Other ideas and wak through resources could be found at: Lego Mindstorms Overview and The NXT Step blog.

You can decide what your end product will be: car, robot, crane, etc...

If you have not decided what you would like to build, you can visit NXT Programs - Project Ideas.
