G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #20

Today please work on your Investigation stage. Visit last classes' blog posts:

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #17

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #18

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #19 to review what needs to be included in this stage (state the problem, relate to AOI, guiding questions, answers evidencing research, design specifications, testing your product, etc.)

Based on your answers to Project 2 Activity 1 Form, I have listed the tour stops for each group in the List: Project 2 - G10 Tour Stops. Names and stops are highlighted in blue and red respectively.

Carefully define your "TOUR STOP"  design specifications as they will be the back bone of the rest of the project. Investigation is due today. Look at Due Dates for Project 2 and plan accordingly.

Don't forget to enter your progress today in your Process Journal and turn in your Investigate stage following the steps to submit and assignments!

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #19

Hello G10 students!

I am not at school today as I am heading to Atlanta, GA to visit the Ron Clark Academy and attend this weekend's National Teachers Conference together with other WA teachers :-)

Please continue working on Project 2 today:

1. Everyone, please read these articles:

2. Get your group members organized to take roles and work on the following activities during today's class:

3. Start planning/developing the map of the whole school as your starting point. Next class you will be assigned your group specific 'tour stops'.

To get started with your map you can visit last class' blog post and/or take a look at these:

4. Based on our last class' group discussions and your work on the Form, please take these into account and start writing you Investigation assignment:
  • who would the audience be?
  • what would they expect to get from the tour?
  • what stops/places are we looking into listing in our tour? why?
  • what are the highlights of WA that you think should be included in the tour?
  • Different kinds of presentations are used in digital supported tours
  • What are QR Codes?
  • When and where are QR Codes used? (did you read the articles listed above? ;-)
  • How will you build a 3D map of the school and a close up on your groups' tour stop
You can use this Investigation Template Shared Doc to get started.

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #18

Today we will begin Project 2The dynamic will be the following:
  • Regroup for this project with someone who you haven't work with during Project 1.
  • discuss as a class where / how will we identify the stops needed for the Tour?
  • one stop per group will be assigned
  • create a map of your assigned tour stop
  • create a storyboard and script of what your  tour stop will be about
  • choose the application/tool that you think best suits your needs: website, video, animation, voicethread, etc
  • shoot video, take pics, conduct interviews, etc to get the content needed and synthesize it digitally
  • compile all links/postings together
  • share with me/upload the final product (movie, animation, etc)
  • get an URL for it
  • create a QR Code  to access the URL
  • use a QR Code to identify the stop
  • fully test QR Codes, links, postings, videos, etc
  • print and laminate a big QR Code for your tour stop (1/4 letter size page and write your names on the back after laminating it)
  • install QR Codes @ tour stops
  • add all virtual tour stops to our wiki (What is this?)

Let's start thinking about the following for our Project 2:
  • what are QR Codes?
  • why use QR Codes?
  • QR codes bring Museum tours to life (Article)
  • who would the audience be?
  • what would they expect to get from the tour?
  • what stops/places are we looking into listing in our tour?
  • why?
  • what are the highlights of WA that you think should be included in the tour?

Please post your answers to this Form.

Using Top-down and Bottom-up strategies start planning how will you make the map of the school as our starting point and plan to add/zoom into your Tour Stop. Please take a look at these:

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #13

Based on our experience with the Create stage last class, we decided we will use this class to finish working on Create stage in order to finish buidling your product.

I have updated the G10 Due dates webpage to reflect this change of dates.

By the end of today you will need to fully develop:

1. Process Journal
2. Include tools and techniques you used to create your game
3. Time management: Did you follow your time plan? How?
4. Changes made to your chosen design? Why? How?

You can always use the Design Folder Checklist to make sure your Create stage is complete. For more details in Create stage visit Tech class #12 blog entry.

Product and Process Journal should be finished by today. Thanks!

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #12

Today we continue working on Create stage. Review the G10 Due dates webpage to help you stay on task.

In Create stage remember to fully develop:

1. Your Process Journal
2. Explain tools and techniques you used to create your product
3. Talk about your time management: Did you follow your time plan? How?
4. Changes made to your chosen design or to plan? Why? How?

You can always use the Design Folder Checklist to make sure your Create stage is complete. For more details in Create stage visit last class' blog entry.

Your Create stage as well as your product are due by the end of today.

I have returned grades and comments for all the assignments that were submitted. Please review them as a group. You can make updates to those stages/assignments and re-submit them for a second assessment grade for that stage.

As stated in the Assignments Standards, if you make changes and/or updates to your documents please please please use the Track Changes feature (what is this?) so it is evident how you have further developed the stage.

If you are working on The Cloud, you can read more about this feature in the Google Docs Blog entry on Tools for Viewing Docs Revisions.
You can also visit Google Docs Revision History with step by step instructions on how to use Revision History. Or if you prefer, you can make your own track changes reference, but it should be very evident what was added to the assignment.

Download a copy of your shared doc as pdf and resubmit it following the steps to submit your assignments posted in the MYP Technology website.
Thanks!

G10 2nd Semester Tech Class #11

Today we will start working on Create stage. Please visit the G10 Due dates webpage to plan your time wisely.

For this stage it is super important to look into these:

1. Your complete Process Journal with :
    • dated journal entries including Visual Evidence (designs, sketches, screen shots, pictures, etc that show how the steps you took to create the product)
    • notes regarding any changes made: e.g. added a step, changed the order of tasks, changed the tools, used another resource, didn't need a resource, didn't finish what was planned etc.
    • how did the group work? Did you have any issues? How did you overcome them, if any?
2. Explain what tools and techniques you used to create your product
3. How was your time management: Have you followed your timeline? How? Did you need to add more tasks? Did you have to skip/delete tasks? Did you need a different resource? etc...
4. Have you made any changes to your chosen design? Why? How?

You can always use the Design Folder Checklist to make sure your Create stage is complete.
